Its been too long...

Ohmygosh I havent posted anything for agessss!!

Well me and Storm have been getting an alright, but we're going through a "baby phase" at the moment. He's not really working properly on the bit at the minute and hes started to really show how green he is. It's so frustrating as I know he can do it, I guess I just need to be patient and keep at it. "A setback is a setup for a comeback", right?

Anyway, that aside, his jumping is progressing amazingly well and hes starting to neaten up his front legs soooo much. I'm very proud of him. His bucking fits have now ceased give or take the odd little playful/confused bunnyhop. Overall, we're having a blast and we've got loads planned over half term; XC schooling, showjumping lessons, autumn rides, schooling - everything! We're going to have a blast!

Oh, I almost forgot - Storm has a lovely new fluffy headcollar and he looks very smart indeed with it on! He wants to show you how lovely he looks wearing it :P

First Post!

Okay, hi everyone.
I thought I'd make this blog now for many reasons:
1) I'm ill and very bored sitting at home all day
2) I think it's nice to keep a record of my horse and what we're doing
3) To hopefully entertain a few people who stumble accross my page
and 4) Because I've got lots to say!

Storm is my 15hh chestnut connemara gelding and he's 5 years old. He's quite green and I bought him 3 months ago to bring him on as a showjumper or eventer. So, the first few weeks were all fine and I thought we were getting on really quite well. We'd had a couple of jumping lessons and his flatwork was consistenly improving. Then, when I got back from holiday, things started to change. He bucked & reared out hacking and in the school his flatwork deteriorated. We got the saddler out and he said we needed the physio. So after having the physio with all her magic electro-whatchamacallits and a new saddle fitted we were ready to rumblee. Or so I thought...

We had our first show lined up on the 29th August and I was SO excited. We were entered to do Best Rider & Handsomest Gelding. I walked to the warm-up arena and hadn't even got halfway round when suddenly Storm had a bucking fit and took off. There was no chance of me sitting to his bucks this time so I came off. I bruised my back in the process and since then things have just gotten worse and worse. He's had me off 3 times (in 3 days) and so out came the vet. She said he looked abit tight in his hock so off he went for xrays. Nothing wrong.

I've ridden him once since the vet came out and I was in tears even before getting on. I'm terrified of riding him, I have no idea why because I usually such a confident rider. I'll happily get on any other horse - just not him. But hopefuly this will change as he's ging on holiday to my friend who will be schooling him and helping me out with him for the next few weeks. I'm not sure how long exactly he'll be away for but I hope this is us finally sorting out our issues and getting back on track.

I'll keep you updated of his progress and mine too and will probably post again tomorrow when he's gone.

Tata for now,
